These Milk Makeup Brow Gels promise you laminated looking brows in 3 swipes…

By Sheilla Mamona

Milk Makeup may be known for their iconic Hydro Grip Primer or their dinky and adorable Sculpt Sticks with an epic shade range, but now they're taping into the brow game with the Kush Brow Lamination Gel. As the name suggests this brow product promises to give you the coveted laminated brow look but without the hassle of an in-salon treatment, or simply the fuss and faff.

Much like many Milk Makeup products, this brow gel sits in the Kush family range, as it's powered by their signature hemp-derived cannabis seed oil, for ultimate nourishment and conditioning benefits as well as that hold and definition we expect from any good brow gel. With this gel, you can effortlessly sculpt and define your brows, achieving a chic brushed-up, laminated finish and you're promised brows that actually stay in place for up to eight hours.

Contour galore.

Even though the product runs clear, the magic for this lamination-like brow gel lies in its density boosting complex, which is meticulously crafted to ensure your brows actually look the part. All you need to do is gently but firmly glide the bristles of the product across your brows making sure the gel coats every strand it passes by and then you're left with a feathered off-duty model makeup look in an instant.

It was only right we put the gel to the test so you won't have to (just in case it's not one for you). Here are five GLAMOUR staffers honest thoughts.

I want to get my brows laminated so bad. Mostly because I want those IG baddie brows – you know, the supermood Bella Hadid brows. It frames the face beautifully and makes you look put together in an instant. I don't love how my brow hairs feel after getting them laminated though, and it costs money – cozzy livs… I was excited to try this Milk Kush Brow lamination gel as it's supposed to mimic the effect of the treatment without the price tag or effort.

On first impressions I like the wand, its a good size and the bristles are shaped like the The Gherkin building in London, so that they can effectively coat every brow hair with very few strokes. Full marks for an invisible finish, specially because I applied it straight after makeup. No white cast or product build up, which many brow gels with strong hold cannot deliver. Did it hold my brows in place like Gorilla Glue? No. But did it make them look laminated for quite sometime – absolutely.

In fact, I attempted to give it a second try by making sure I pressed the brows with my fingers post application, and that seemed to do the trick. Clear brow gels are very hit and miss when judged against dark skin, so for my Black girls looking for something that is genuinely invisible and has a good go at holding them down, you're onto a winner here.

I'm a pessimist when it comes to brow gels that promise on holding power because I've been burnt before by lamination gels and waxes alike. So I'll admit I didn't have high hopes before trying Milk Makeup's KUSH Brow Lamination Gel. Would it be able to tame my stubborn brow hairs? The short answer is: not really.

I found it difficult to get a good hold on my brow hairs with the brush as the bristles were too long and soft to shape and stick the hairs down. It did give my brows a laminated look for a few minutes (after I'd smoothed them down with my finger), but then the product dried and they went back to their natural state. I noticed a bit of long-lasting definition on my brows, but other than that, I didn't see the lamination effect I was sold.

I wear a brow gel day-in, day-out – but to be honest, the most recent addition I made to my makeup bag left my brows feeling dry and crispy. So, despite it being clear (I usually opt for something tinted to give my naturally-blonde brows some definition), I was intrigued to give Milk Makeup's lamination number a go.

I loved how fuss-free it is: free of fragrance, totally clear and small enough to fit in your purse. It did a stellar job of combing through my brows and giving the hairs lift, and it didn't leave them feeling crispy *at all*. I loved that I could apply numerous coats, and my brows stayed in place all day.

I love an effortless brow moment so lamination gels are my go-to for a more put together look. I’m used to brow products feeling a little tacky to help hold them in place so when I went to apply Kush and it felt so much lighter, I managed to convince myself that I didn’t have anything on the brush and kept going back in to get more product on the spoolie. However, after doing this a few times I quickly realised that this is simply because the formula is so light. Don’t think this means it compromises on holding power, though - in fact, on applying to my brows I was immediately impressed with the lamination effect it gave without looking or feeling clumpy.

I usually have to make a few edits before I’m happy with the final result, so I also appreciated that this gave hold but was easy enough to brush out, giving me time to adjust without it being locked in place. Overall, it held my brows well through the day and paired with its simple and compact design, this is definitely a winner for me!

Throwback to earlier this Summer, Mum and I had to leave the house super early to catch a flight. En-route to the airport I say: 'gosh, I haven't even brushed my brows yet'. When I tell you, she was screaming laughing thinking that I meant hair, but alas, I did mean brows. If I apply nothing else, the absolute bare minimum for me is to use a brow gel. I regularly laminate and tint my brows, whether I do it at-home or treat myself to a salon visit. My brows are naturally quite limp and I don’t think they ever truly recovered from the 90s thinning era. Brow lamination is great, but you do still need to use a brow gel between visits to maintain the fluffy look.

I usually use ELF Brow Gel to shape my brows combined with the Got2B Glued Gel to set them in place. I tried out the Milk Makeup KUSH Brow Lamination Gel, I really liked the packaging and the product applied nicely if you’re looking for a very subtle look. For me, it didn’t quite live up to the lamination expectations. It took quite a lot of product for my brows to lie in place, my eyebrows are quite stubborn, so maybe they’re the problem. Or I think I needed more product really, as I feel like iI could get through it all in a week.

For now, I’ll be sticking to my regular brow routine.
